| HYPNOSIS - THE
FACTS
Nothing to Fear And Everything to
Gain
The old myths and misconceptions about
hypnosis have given way to proven, scientifically sound applications.
Today, hypnosis is used in many fields, including: medicine,
dentistry, law enforcement and education.
We would like to answer some questions
and dispel myths.
How does hypnosis work?
Our mind works on two levels - the conscious and the unconscious.
We make decisions, think, and act with our conscious mind.
The unconscious mind controls our habits. In the relaxed
state known as hypnosis, we can communicate directly with
the unconscious mind. This is why it is possible to change
"fixed" habits with hypnosis.
Can I be hypnotised? Yes you can!
Have you have ever jumped out of your skin while watching
a thriller? Or cried at a poignant moment of a movie? You
have experienced hypnosis. There are many examples of hypnosis
in every day life. When you're in that half awake state when
waking up or falling asleep.
Anyone who wants to be hypnotised can go to a deep level
of trance and achieve successful results using hypnosis. However,
if a patient is unwilling to follow hypnotic suggestions we
can't hypnotise them because we can't make them do anything
that they do not want to do.
Prior to your first session, we will send you a CD which
contains a self-hypnosis track. We suggest our clients listen
to the CD before the session, so they understand what it feels
like to be hypnotised. The more time you listen, the easier
you will go into a trance.
Will I know if I am hypnotised?
Most people can't tell the difference between the hypnotised
and the waking states. Some people feel relaxed and
lethargic, others feel a lightness. One thing that people
do notice is an inexplicable change in their daily behaviours.
Is Hypnosis "Mind Control"?
No! You can't be made to do anything against your will! Hypnosis
is not sleep. You are aware and in control at every moment
and can terminate the session at any stage. A common perception
about hypnosis comes from stage acts. The volunteers choose
to go on stage and are willing to go along with the entertainer's
suggestions and act foolishly for the purpose of the show.
On the other hand, hypnotherapy is dedicated to the well-being
of the patient. We are regulated by a strict code of conduct.
Hypnotherapy is completely safe.
The more times you are hypnotised,
the deeper you go, the more successful the session will be.
This is why we send out a C.D. for people to practice with
before they come.
